Teachers of all languages at both the high school and college levels would benefit from reading this study of a pen-pal e-mail letter exchange between American students of Japanese and Japanese students. Four students participated in the project and exchanged letters three times during the semester. The authors describe specifically how this project-based lesson addressed 10 of the 11 goals of the Standards.
