Sildus, T. & Selzer, D. (1999). Video projects in the foreign language classroom . In Nerenz, A. (Ed.), Standards for a new century. (pp. 143-155). Lincolnwood, IL: National Textbook Company.

This chapter, written by two high school teachers of Russian and German, will interest teachers at all levels and languages. The authors explain how video projects can follow the Standards to enrich the curriculum and student portfolios to provide documentary evidence of students' developing competence. Video projects, as described by the authors, involve teams of students who plan, prepare, and perform on videotape in specific conversational situations. The authors describe several video projects, detailing how each project relates to each of the 11 content Standards. They conclude with advice on developing and assessing the projects and offer a series of instructional forms in appendices.
