Lally, C. G. (1998). Using the National Standards to improve foreign language articulation: An alternative to placement exams . In Alley, D. & Heusinkveld, P. (Ed.), Communications, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, Communities. (pp. 93-100). Valdosta, GA: Southern Conference on Language Teaching.

This article suggests alternates strategies for articulation, beyond existing testing strategies. It starts by discussing the history of articulation and placement practices and institutions, and then argues that discussions about articulation need to be restructured. With reference to the 1995 Statement on Articulation from the Coalition of Foreign Language Organizations, the author modifies the Standards to recommend an alternate approach to articulation, based on how teachers can alter their teaching and interaction behaviors.
