This article will interest anyone concerned with learning about how the National Standards as well as the ACTFL Program Standards were used as the impetus to redesign the French curriculum at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, beginning in the 2003-2004 academic year. The author describes the rationale and details the process for how the faculty changed the structure of the French major as well as the significant challenges incurred.
