Rosenbusch, M. H. (2005). The Issue: The No Child Left Behind Act and teaching and learning languages in U.S. schools. Modern Language Journal, 89(2), (250-261).

This article will be of interest to those concerned about the effect of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act legislation on foreign languages education in the United States. The author discusses the impact by means of three different reports, of which two are surveys designed to directly assess the impact of NCLB. Findings demonstrate that decreases in instructional time are greatest in schools where there are high minority schools. Implications for accountability and testing/assessment are also discussed.
