This chapter suggests multiple ways to achieve each of the goals of the Standards with the use of technology. The author describes in detail how to assess the value of educational software and the use of the Internet in the classroom to provide basic instruction, reinforcement of materials, and enhancement to the curriculum. Additionally, the author provides an educational software assessment rubric and examples of Best Web Sites for teaching foreign languages. The author then speaks to the merits of distance education in the foreign languages classroom and provides a criteria-based rubric to evaluate foreign language distance learning courses. The author concludes by addressing the needs of foreign language students with disabilities and speaks to the role of technology in meeting these needs
