This article describes a study in which learners enrolled in third-semester German language courses explored their stereotypical views of German cultures with views of members of the target cultures. They used media from these countries and from their own cultural contexts, as well as library, Internet resources, and online interviews. The author explores diverse definitions of culture, stereotype formation, and previous research on culture teaching in the literature review. A comparison of a control group versus the treatment group revealed that by using the Internet for cultural inquiry, the voices of members of the target cultures can be incorporated into the L2 curriculum, and that these voices refine the way students understand culture in a complex, nonstatic system of attitudes, views, and practices.#4.Comparisons #Teachersandteaching #Curriculum #Research #All #Substantialmention #German #ClassroomExamples #Postsecondary #2.Cultures #JournalArticle #TheoriesandMethods
