Savignon, S. J. & Sysoyev, P. V. (2002). Sociocultural strategies for a dialogue of cultures. Modern Language Journal, 86(4), (508-524).

Teachers interested in exploring approaches to teaching culture will benefit from this article. Following a brief appraisal of the ways that culture is an integral part of the goals of all the 5 Cs of the Standards, the authors review current theories that consider the dialogic nature of culture. They describe a qualitative study exploring the ways that explicit strategy training for L2 students promotes sociocultural competence, or intercultural communication that results in a productive dialogue of cultures.
