Fountain, A. (2001). Sequential foreign language programs: Articulating language and literature . In Lally, C. G. (Ed.), Foreign language program articulation: Current practice and future prospects. (pp. 45-62). Westport, CT: Bergin & Garvey.

Fountain proposes a model of literary articulation in this chapter, using Cuban José Martí as an example. She proposes the inclusion of literature from the earliest levels, expanding on the brief treatment given to literature and to textual analysis in the Standards. This chapter would be of particular value to administrators and teachers interested in increased articulation and collaboration between institutions (elementary, middle school, high school, college), as well as to teachers interested in practical examples of how to integrate literature at any level of the curriculum.
