Lange, D. L. & Wieczorek, J. A. (1997). Reflections on the collaborative projects: Two perspectives, two professionals . In Phillips, J. K. (Ed.), Collaborations: Meeting New Goals, New Realities. (pp. 243-272). Lincolnwood, IL: National Textbook Company.

This chapter is a dialogue between the authors, moderated by Eileen Glisan, reflecting on projects presented in the previous 7 chapters in the volume in which it appears. They address the following questions: (1) How do the projects relate to our national goal areas and Standards? (2) What is the role of culture and communication across the projects? (3) How do the projects use interdisciplinary connections and the community to extend language use beyond the classroom? (4) What is the role of collaboration and action research in the projects? (5) What can we learn from the voices of students and teachers who participated in these projects? (6) What are the implications of these projects for teacher preparation and ongoing professional development? (7) What issues and questions arise from the projects and remain to be explored? (8) What next steps does the profession need to take in order to address the Standards? This chapter would be especially relevant to teachers, to researchers considering classroom projects, and also to administrators interested in the role of the Standards.
