This article, of particular interest to world language teachers and teacher trainers, gives a brief history of reform in teacher education and describes the reform of world language teacher education and certification program at an urban institution. This reform took place because of various influences described in the article and several projects like the Teachers for a New Era project (TNE). This article aims to inspire educators involved in teacher preparation programs.
