French, K. (2001). Opening doors to the world: Using activity structures to design foreign language instruction. Learning and Leading with Technology, 29(4), (42-48).

This brief overview, of interest to teachers and curriculum developers, introduces the Standards and suggests how telecollaborative activities can foster Standards-based learning. Several categories of activities are introduced in thumbnail, explicitly with respect to the Standards they fulfill. The goal is to help teachers focus on the design process of activities as fulfilling goals, especially with the use of telecommunications, not just in relation to content or media.
