Of interest to post-secondary instructors of Japanese, this analysis details 6 students' experience in an advanced Japanese classroom structured around a semester-long project based on Japanese newspapers. The article reviews literature on related projects and then on curricular projects aimed at the Standards for Japanese. The semester-long unit is developed in detail, including references to available online dictionary technology and to intercultural partnerships; learning outcomes are characterized according to various Standards, showing how to join tasks to Standards demands.
