This chapter, of particular interest to world language educators at all levels, describes the need for language teaching to move beyond the four skills plus culture approach. Osborn advocates for interdisciplinarity in world language education and promotes a framework, Critical Inquiry Cycle (CIC), as tool to organize curricula based on inquiry. Furthermore, Osborn also offers guidelines to assess interdisciplinarity for world language education and provides a sample rubric which he ties to the National Standards.
