In the article, of particular interest to post-secondary German language educators, the author advocates the model kulturexkurse which integrates literary texts into communicative, proficiency-oriented German curriculum to build linguistic and culture competence. According to the author, this model will help language students communicate in German about complex topics, and help them understand.
