Of interest to PK-5 teachers, curriculum planners, and researchers, this article reports on teacher-researcher collaboration on the development and implementation of writing activities for the PreK-G5 Japanese FLES program. In the activities developed, the Communication and Culture Standards are featured. The activities have students working with hiragana, katakana, and kanji in a development sequence through the elementary school program. The article concludes with reflections from the teachers-researches on the value of the collaboration.
