Ketchum, E. M. (2006). From teacher to student: The 3R model of reading strategies. NECTFL Review, 58, (12-24).

This article will interest high school and college teachers especially. The 3R model described in this article refers to recognizing, researching, and relating various types of cultural information while learning to interpret foreign language literary texts. The author argues that while the Standards applaud the use of literature they do not offer extensive advice about employing literature to accompany culture learning. This paper provides a framework for enabling learners to perceive diversity, to discover information, and to apply their acquired knowledge to literary interpretation.
