Amores, M. & Medley, Jr., F. (1998). From rhetoric to reality: Applying AATSP to the Spanish classroom . In Alley, D. & Heusinkveld, P. (Ed.), Communications, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, Communities. (pp. 1-18). Valdosta, GA: Southern Conference on Language Teaching.

In an article addressed primarily to Spanish teachers, the authors briefly review the National Standards. Then, using them as a point of departure, they describe the efforts of the AATSP to create language-specific Standards for Spanish. They propose specific ways in which teachers can develop their curriculum and organize instructional procedures to attain the AATSP goals. They offer three model lessons based on authentic texts for oral and written activities.
