In an article addressed primarily to Spanish teachers, the authors briefly review the National Standards. Then, using them as a point of departure, they describe the efforts of the AATSP to create language-specific Standards for Spanish. They propose specific ways in which teachers can develop their curriculum and organize instructional procedures to attain the AATSP goals.
