This chapter will interest anyone concerned about revamping foreign language courses as well as program assessments that relate to outcomes within a Standards-based curriculum, reflecting real-world contexts. The author discusses in some detail, using a university French program as an example, how, at varying levels of instruction (e.g., elementary, intermediate or advanced), articulated connections can be designed in terms of course content as well as course and program assessment for a postsecondary Standards-based curriculum.
