In this article, the author proposes a way to articulate sequential Spanish FLES programs, utilizing the National Standards to help these programs be more successful. FLES teachers, school administrators, language policy designers and researchers would find this article of interest. Also presented is a discussion of various service-learning components that have been employed to bring together learners and speakers of Spanish in meaningful and mutually beneficial ways.
