Strange, A. J. (1997). A French culture course in English: Strategies and resources . In Terry, R. M. (Ed.), Addressing the Standards for Foreign Language Learning. (pp. 47-58). Valdosta, GA: Southern Conference on Language Teaching.

Of interest to program administrators and instructors interested in expanding their curriculum, this chapter describes the author's curricular endeavor to foster greater interest in French, outside of the traditional language classroom. She argues that a culture course in English can contribute to the effort to revitalize language instruction, without the linguistic obstacles to communication usually encountered in a foreign language course. The author presents her course in detail, suggesting that this type of course allows the Standards to reach beyond the language classroom.
