Herron, C., Dubreil, S., Corrie, C. & Cole, S. P. (2002). A classroom investigation: Can video improve intermediate-level French language students' ability to learn about a foreign culture?. Modern Language Journal, 86(1), (36-53).

Teachers interested in using video to develop cultural awareness would be interested in this article. Building on a previous study of how students learn big "C" and little "c" culture, the authors use the Cultures goals of the Standards to assess the differences between learning about cultural practices and cultural products. They provide specific examples of advance organizers for the videos associated with Bravo!, the intermediate French textbook. Their conclusions underscore the degree to which practices, products, and perspectives are interwoven and inseparable.
