You are invited to apply for the 2023 Nominating Committee. Seven members who are recruited through various channels including the ACTFL volunteer portal along with the immediate Past President of ACTFL serving in an ex officio role. Committee members must remain a member for the duration of their committee term and may not currently be serving on any other ACTFL committee. Volunteers should not be candidates for election in the current year.  The committee will use the board nomination at-large and President-Elect rubrics to evaluate each candidate and to prepare the slate of candidates for the election.  
 
The ACTFL Leadership Development Committee will give guidance to the committee in terms of the current ACTFL board make-up and highlight the needs. The committee is also charged with helping to recruit additional candidates based on the board’s needs and make-up in any given year. 

2023 Timeline: 

  • Call for committee members posted on the volunteer portal in early May. 

  • Volunteer applications accepted through June 9. 

  • Leadership development committee reviews committee member applications and makes recommendations for committee service by June 21. 

  • Committee will meet over a series of virtual meetings in June and August and will recommend the election slate by August 18. 

We are seeking ACTFL members to serve on our Nominating Committee. All work will take place primarily between June-August and will be conducted online. The Nominating Committee reviews applications for open elected ACTFL Board positions, using the rubrics available here. The Nominating Committee then puts together a slate of candidates to stand for election. 

Ideal candidates to serve on the Nominating Committee will: 

  • Make issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion a priority. 

  • Seek to expand opportunities for volunteer leadership that reflect ACTFL’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. 

  • Have volunteer experience with ACTFL (such as presenting at a conference or serving on a committee or task force). 

  • Not currently serving on any other ACTFL committee and also should not be running for election in the current year. 

We ask that any current ACTFL member interested in serving on this committee complete the short survey application below by June 9. We will notify all applicants by the end of June. Work will resume immediately following these notifications and will be completed by mid-August.
