Description:

ACTFL is seeking five (5) members to serve on its newly retooled Advocacy & Outreach Committee for a three-year term. The Advocacy & Outreach Committee works to increase members’ interest and ability to educate policymakers and the public about the importance of language education. It also seeks to increase ACTFL’s public profile with relevant stakeholders.

Committee Responsibilities Include:

  • Working with ACTFL staff to ensure that members are kept informed about policy issues affecting language education.
  • Coordinating with state and local volunteer leaders and ACTFL staff to ensure that ACTFL is proactive with respect to language educated related legislation.
  • Working with ACTFL staff to support current and develop new initiatives that educate external stakeholders of the critical importance of language education in the U.S. and worldwide.

Committee members will meet virtually throughout the year and, ideally, in-person during the ACTFL Annual Convention in November and the JNCL-NCLIS Language Advocacy Day in Washington, DC in February. In-person attendance, while encouraged, is not a requirement of committee participation.
