INSTRUCTIONAL INTERVENTION FOR STUDENTS WITH LANGUAGE LEARNING DISABILITIES

Starts:  May 31, 2011 00:00 (CT)
Ends:  Jul 22, 2011 00:00 (CT)
COURSE OVERVIEW:  This on-line graduate credit course, offered through Continuing Education at the University of Corado-Boulder this summer, will provide participants with an understanding of language-based learning disabilities and will offer instruction in the principles and skills to develop modified foreign language instruction to address students' disabilities.  (See detailed list of course objectives below.)

INSTRUCTORS:  Jean Bouchard, M.A., CCC-SLP (Director of the Modified Foreign Language Program, CU-Boulder) and Anne Becher, M.A. (Coordinator of the Beginning Spanish One course and Secondary Spanish Teaching Certificate Advisor, Department of Spanish and Portuguese, CU-Boulder)

COURSE MEETING DATES: The course will be offered during CU-Boulder's Summer Session C, May 31 - July 22.  It is entirely on-line, with instruction and interaction planned for about 6 hours per week; homework and preparation will require additional work outside of these 6 hours.  Although course "meetings" will not be "synchronous" (i.e. students will not all need to be on-line at exactly the same time), there will be strict twice-weekly deadlines for participation in course discussions and submission of class work.  (Some flexibility might be possible to accommodate students' vacation schedules; consult the instructors for more information or permission.)

COST OF MATRICULATION:   $1,488.  If you register before 4/22/11, your cost is $1,149.  Scholarship funds are available based on need.  For scholarship consideration, you will need to submit a statement of need with your application.
