Best Practices for Virtual Exchanges at Community Colleges
With advances in technology, language learning is more accessible than ever. However, online language classes often lack the person-to-person connection that should be at the heart of language learning. In this session, attendees will learn techniques for creating immersive virtual language learning environments centered on principles of international exchange and cross-cultural communication. Program implementers and faculty will share best practices for creating virtual exchanges that build intercultural competence- a critical skill for the 21st century workplace. Presenters will showcase effective exchanges, including facilitating language partnerships with native speakers, cultural immersion activities, and professional development workshops that enhance students' intercultural competence and career readiness. Participants will leave with actionable insights to help transform their virtual classrooms from online language learning to immersive international exchange.
