Dear WL Friends,
Happy holidays! I spent much of my holiday break playing around with educational technology: social bookmarking, social networking, and digital storytelling (yes, I'm a geek, but it was a BLAST!)
I highly recommend social bookmarking - a great way to save your bookmarks publicly so that others can see them and share them. Mine are at delicious: http://delicious.com/miscositas
I've created "movie" versions of most of the folktales on my site - something I've been wanting to do for years. With PhotoStory and MovieMaker (both free programs), it was a cinch - and tons of fun. You can access these videos on my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/miscositastv or on my website at: http://www.miscositas.com
Also, just an FYI if all these tools excite you and you'd like to learn more. There are tons of sites out there that offer free tutorials and assistance with web 2.0 tools. I have a few pointers on my website: http://www.miscositas.com/webtools. Also, my new book on the topic - "Empower English Language Learners With Tools From the Web" - has just been published. Here's the link:
(http://www.corwin.com/booksProdDesc.nav?prodId=Book233391&currTree=Subjects). It was written for teachers of ESL, but really has applications for WL teachers.
What web 2.0 tools have you excited?
