Message: The Teaching and Learning of Culture SIG sponsored a session on this topic at the ACTFL convention in Boston this past November. It was great! You might think about getting in touch with the presenter. I am copying and pasting the program description here:

"UNESCO’s Sites: Inspiring and Engaging Students to Become World Citizens By using the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites as a way to generate content for communicative language teaching in the FL classroom, we investigate the different proficiency goals available for Novice, Intermediate and Advanced levels that all coincide by incorporating a process of discovery and global citizenship. Presenter(s): McKew Devitt, University of Vermont"

This is such a great idea. I could imagine focusing on one as a model and then having students become expert in another and demonstrate their expertise in some way that works for your classroom.

Try these links found by searching google.es  with such descriptors as actividades para estudiantes patrimonio cultural mundial de la unesco

So glad you are doing this!  I do a mini lesson with my 8th grade Spanish students on UNESCO  World Heritage sites and they really enjoy it.  They are surprised to learn that they may have visited a site or two with their families.  I also take groups of students to Mexico and Ecuador and always highlight the sites that we visit on our travels.  Sorry that I can't help with curriculum, just wanted to offer you encouragement!

I was looking into creating a semester-long Spanish class based around the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.  Has anyone every done this or know of any books that would have curriculum surrounding this topic?  Thank you.
