We are a private school in Charlotte USA looking to contact MS and HS native French and Spanish speakers.  We would love to be in touch with schools overseas and start either community & service projects and just get to know each other's culture. We could even eventually look at an exchange program. Do you have any idea where to start looking and how to go about it so that we have a successful program?

Thank you!

ePals might be a good place to start.  Also Skype has a website for teachers.  Good luck.

We have been connected to a school through our Sister City in France.  If your town has a French or Spanish Sister CIty, it is a natural and very productive way to get started.  The local Sister City Committee helps plan and fund our exchange, and other exchanges have grown out of it such as exchange business internships, choir and city council exchanges.

There is a bilingual school in Peru that i think would be very interested in making connections and has a large service component offering for summer travel. I met the headmistress when she was in NYC and she was delightful and eager to arrange this type of exchange... You can reach Pilar Deza via pdeza@casuarinas.edu.pe or at(511) 344-4040. School info at http://www.casuarinas.edu.pe/

It makes it easier when schools are in the same time zone.

I recommend you set up an account with edmodo. It is a free networking website restricted to educators, students, and other shareholders.  You can share a lot, and so can your students. Security is tight.
I have even networked with faculty at the University Complutense in Madrid.

You can set up a sister school connection, and make it public or keep it private.

All FL teachers in Wake County are members, and have set up PLC groups.

You could try The Mixxer (http://language-exchanges.org), hosted by Dickinson College. If you register as a teacher, you have more options for connecting your class.
